General: South Texas Locomotive Works (STLW) will inspect every model prior to shipping unless directed otherwise by the customer. In the event that a model that has been pre-ordered is damaged when STLW receives it, STLW will notify the customer and describe the problem then seek either repair or replacement of the piece in question. If neither is possible, all monies paid by the customer will be refunded or credited against other items depending upon the customer's choice. If the customer directs STLW not to inspect the new model prior to shipping it, the customer is responsible for notifying STLW of any damage to the model and return shipping to STLW for corrective action. If the importer or STLW deem the damage to the piece as being caused by the customer the customer has the option of taking the model as is or paying for required repairs and shipping. Advance Reservations: STLW will accept advance reservations from any of the importers STLW deals with.
STLW reserves the right to require a depost on advance
reservations. Reservations will require a deposit
when required by the importer. The deposit, unless otherwise noted at the time of reservation, will be non-refundable and non-transferrable STLW will notify the customer when STLW receives the pick ups so the customer can forward payment within the time frame specified, typically seven to ten days. Failure to remit payment within this time could result in forfeiture of the model. Consistent failure to pick up the models on reservation can result in loss of this privilege. If for some reason the customer may have difficulty picking up a reserved model when it arrives please notify STLW to work out an arrangement to everyone's satisfaction. Guarantee: All models are satisfaction guaranteed except for models listed "As-Is". When inquiring about an "As-Is" item STLW will make the best possible effort to accurately describe the piece in question so the customer knows what they are getting. Returns: A refund or credit will be provided if the customer returns the item within ten (10) days from the date of sale. A telephone call or e-mail explaining the circumstances causing the return is necessary in order to receive a return authorization number which is required on all returns, whether it be for refund, exchange or repair. This must also be done within the ten (10) days from the date of sale. A copy of the sales invoice is required, a 25% restock fee will be charged if a copy of the invoice is not included with the return. STLW does not refund shipping expenses, unless it was STLW's mistake and can be documented as such. All returned models must be received by STLW no later than 20 days after date of sale. Models returned without an authorization number may not be refundable, "As-Is" items may be returned with 10 days, but the customer will pay shipping both ways, and be charged a $25.00 fee. "As-Is" items shall be purchased with the understanding that the item is potentially damaged and in need of repair. Non-factory electronics such as lights, sound, command control, etc, are not covered under STLW's guarantee policy for repair, but the customer may still return the model for refund or exchange. Shipping and Handling: Continental USA: Shipping costs for HO
locomotives: $14.00 for the first item, $7.00 for
each there after up to five, above that we will cover
the balance. HO rolling stock or N scale
items are $10.00 for the first item, $5.00 for each
additional one. O scale items $20.00 per item.
These prices are for insured UPS / Fed Ex Ground in the
continental United States. Overnight, second day, or
three day service to be billed at cost. Hawaii, Alaska, and foreign countries are charged the exact freight charged to STLW by the shipper. USA customers please provide street address, and a telephone number for ALL orders. Any foreign country surcharges will be billed accordingly. STLW does not accept C.O.D. Hold Policy: Customers living within the United States / Canada: items may be held a maximum of 7 days. For all customers outside of the mainland United States / Canada: items may be held a maximum of 10 days. Holds may not be extended beyond specified days. Outright Purchase or Trades: Depending upon the piece in question STLW may consider making an offer to buy the piece outright or trade it for in stock items or as a credit for an item on order. If the customer wishes to perform such a transaction please advise STLW. Sales Tax: Texas residents will be charged sales tax @ 6.25%. Models Damaged in Shipment: In the event that a customer receives a model damaged in shipment by the shipping company, please follow the following procedures:
The shipping company will notify STLW to issue a call tag at the shippers end. The shipping company will then pick up
the shipping materials, the damaged model and the box from the customer's address. This initiates the claim settlement process. STLW will ensure that all corrective action is performed as quickly as possible.
