  Who We Are

South Texas Locomotive Works (STLW), is an internet based brass model railroad equipment dealer,   STLW's primarily focused on Western US Railroads from the 1960's to the present, though other roads and era's will not be neglected.   We chose to focus on the western roads as we have a greater prototype knowledge of them than the eastern ones.  STLW's staff has extensive experience in the brass diesel market.  Staff members have professional painting, mechanical and cosmetic brass model repair, and retail hobby experience, in addition to being modelers and collectors.

STLW's goal is to be the first choice for the discriminating diesel modeler.  This goal will be reached through superior customer service, fair and reasonable pricing, and an extensive knowledge of both the prototype and models.  Currently, STLW carries Railway Classics, Overland Models, and Division Point.   If an item is available or planned  from OMI or Division Point, but not listed by us, e-mail or call for a quote.    Interested in an unpainted version of an OMI factory painted item?   Please contact us, a large percentage of our business is getting these unpainted models. Provided your request is in soon enough (typically within about a month of the original announcement), arrangements can typically be made to get an unpainted model.

In addition to Brass Models,  STLW is also stocking  Richmond Controls Lighting Kits.   The light kits are designed to operate in parallel with the motor, thus eliminating  the need for an artificial load in the lit unit or resistors in unlit trailing units.  Richmond Controls units are designed for ease of installation and are the best on the market for simulating the Marslight, Gyralight, or Prime Stratolight warning beacon effects.  Check the products page for in stock items.  We can order anything Richmond has available.  If you have a custom application contact us as we have been working with Richmond Controls on several custom applications for our customers.
